Scott Raymond Gower - Eulogy by Darren, Phil & Justin Hello to all, I’m not one for speeches, so where do I start? I just couldn’t think myself so lucky to know someone like Scott. Not just a mechanic, but a friend as well. I don’t know heaps about cars like Scott did, but he never looked down on me or in fact anyone at that, for not knowing their car stuff like he did. It was just his passion for getting motors and cars going the best that they could do. He just liked to help out his mates. Now, I knew Scott close to 15-20 years or so and over the years he put together lots of crazy motor setups for me in the Torana that is. We tried everything from Holley’s to Webbers to Turbo’s and even adding Nitrous Oxide and the list goes on. Gee we had some fun times. He was very talented knowing everything about anything and was always keen to improve things, better than what they were. There were times where Scott would drop everything he was doing, just to get a mate back to the track, whatever the occasion was, he’d be there for them. He was quick at his work and made jobs look easy for the big fella that he was. Nothing was ever too hard for Scott, I think he just liked the challenge. Now, a couple of years ago, Scotty created a master piece of a motor for me, for the Torana that is. I said to him “Treat it as if it was your car and do whatever you would do for yourself as if it was yours”, so that he did. He put together a one of a kind totally Custom Turbo Charged six cylinder. If you were to have a look, you can see all the thought and hard work that has gone into this creation. It’s an absolute work of art. It’s just an old Holden red motor, but when you see it, your eyes will pop, even if you’re not a car fanatic. I couldn’t be more happier for what Scott has done for me over the years. Scott then got stuck into our mates Phill’s Sigma Turbo. He put together a Turbo charged V8, with extensive headwork and everything else that goes with it. First time it went down the quarter mile, it ran an impressive 9.4 second pass. Not bad for a street car! In saying all of this, Scott was good fun to be around and full of knowledge, he just loved making things go fast. That’s the sort of guy he was. I’m sure most people here today have a story to tell like mine, how he’s helped those out and put together some great pieces of work for them too. Scotty was very special to us all, not just as a mechanic, but a real friend which is hard to find. Scott has been a big part in a lot of people’s lives here today and even the people that couldn’t be here today. We are all going to miss him very much, more than words can say. Rest in Peace Scott. Poem titled “He is Gone” You can shed the tears that he is gone Or you can smile because he has lived You can close your eyes and pray he will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him Or you can be full of love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember him and only that he is gone Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on You can cry and close you mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what he would want, smile, open your eyes, love and go on. May you rest in peace Scott, You’ll be in our hearts forever. xox
