Eulogy by Scott's wife Kathy

Scott Raymond Gower - Eulogy by devoted wife Kathy My life with Scott began when I met him 21 years ago at ten to midnight on New Years Eve at the Old Lion Hotel Adelaide, while I was out with three girlfriends. We clicked straight away, and I thought “what a genuinely lovely guy!” I practically tattooed my phone number into his arm with pen hoping he’d call me. He called the next day and we began dating. Scott was living and partying with his former High School mates, Luke, James, Ben, Kylie and Dave at Kensington Gardens, working at his parents mechanical business (where he met Darren), and playing Lacrosse on weekends. It took him quite a while to introduce me to his parents and take me to the Lacrosse Club. He was a very private person! After working at his parents business, Scott then moved to his own workshop at Windsor Gardens where he worked late into the night most nights. I used to phone him up to remind him how late is had got, as he hadn’t realised….he was very dedicated. It was also there that he met lots of people who are still good friends to his day, including Ryan, Sammy and Phil. Scott eventually ended up working at Hunters Engine Re-conditioning, where he met a co-worker Chris, and they struck up a good friendship straight away, and he has remained a great friend to this day. I was so proud to become Scott’s wife in 2001. We lived at Redwood Park and then moved to Lewiston where Scott said he wanted to build a BIG car shed which he did with the help of his brother and good mates. He would never let anyone help him tidy it up and it was always ‘organised chaos’. Every chance he got, he would be out in his shed building performance engines while listening to Triple J, and music such as Radio Head, Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine. He had quite a ‘different’ taste in music. In his spare time, Scott also sat on his computer and designed intake manifolds and specialised engine parts. Scott and his father also designed and built a Ferrari Milano replica car to race at the Sale Lakes Races at Lake Gairdner. The car was capable of 320 kms an hour. Scott and his dad when up to the races a couple of times, but then Scott was not well enough to go anymore. Scott designed, built and modified some amazing engines which have appeared in magazines and on the internet. He has also designed special intake manifolds for racing, fuel injection and a Falcon overhead cam cylinder head into a Holden motor which appeared in a couple of magazines. Scott also fancied himself as a bit of a guru on horse riding and we had words at times when he was trying to coach me on my riding skills…something I will never forget! Scott loved his time playing Lacrosse, but I feel he was happiest when he was in the shed with his mates taking about and playing around with car engines and having a beer. He also loved being with our dogs, Ruffy and Tosca, who he loved like children, and enjoyed the time we spent out here at Lewiston with the relaxed atmosphere and our trips away. I fell in love with Scott very quickly, he drew people to him with his beautiful nature, he has a very funny sense of humour which he only showed after he really got to know people. I loved and respected Scott so much….he is the most clever person I have ever known, very loving, kind, generous and loyal. I will love and hold him in my heart forever…….thank you Scott for being such a special part of my life, I will never forget you.
